About the Gentle Class

This is a specialized class for seniors and those with physical limitations. There are no intense movements or forced stretching.

You will carefully learn Aikido’s techniques of “non-reliance on strength,” developing your body mechanics and sense of balance. In addition to refreshing your mind and body, you can also work towards earning your black belt (dan ranking).

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I have no exercise experience at all. Is that okay?

Yes, many people with zero exercise experience participate in our Gentle Class. Aikido is a martial art that does not rely on physical strength, so you can start even if you are not confident in your fitness level.

Q. I am worried about my physical fitness. Will I be able to keep up?

The Gentle Class involves no vigorous movements. If you have concerns about your knees or lower back, the instructor will adjust the content for you on the spot. You are also free to take breaks whenever you need.

Q. What should I bring to the trial class?

Just three things: sportswear (comfortable clothes), water, and a towel. A dogi is not required.

Q. Will I be pressured to join after the trial class?

No, the trial is simply for you to experience the atmosphere of the dojo. There is no solicitation whatsoever. Please take your time to consider it.
