Many members who started as beginners have experienced real growth.
About half of our members are women. Many started with no martial arts or exercise experience.
Before Aikido, my time outside of work and raising my kids was spent just resting. Now I feel like I’m spending my time meaningfully. I can genuinely tell my child, “Mom is working hard too, so let’s do this together.”
I find it fascinating that you can control your partner with minimal force. I also really enjoy the current class members.
I enjoy training that can protect myself and my loved ones in times of need. I feel like continuing Aikido will help me become a better person. My daughter also loves Aikido and wants to keep going, so I’m grateful we can share this activity as a family.
I can’t always execute or receive techniques perfectly, but I keep going because I want to get better. Also, the instructor is really fun. Being able to watch YouTube videos and review with my sister makes it easy to continue.
Aikido is deep and the techniques are always fresh and interesting, which keeps me going. In daily life, I’ve started naturally being more aware of my center and incorporating basic movements.
The fact that I’ve been able to stick with it has given me confidence. Since starting Aikido, I feel like my perspective on things has broadened.
I was happy when someone complimented my posture while wearing the gi. I usually have bad posture! (laughs) Since starting Aikido, I’ve made friends I never would have met otherwise, and it’s fun to overcome challenges together.
Thanks to Aikido, I have a regular activity on weekends and I’ve stopped wasting time doing nothing. Aikido has become a great way to reset myself.
I’ve increasingly felt that training is improving both my mind and body. I’ve also become better at using my body efficiently in everyday life.
Each Aikido technique has its own principles and depth, and I want to learn as many as possible. Although I just started, I feel it’s already helping me maintain my fitness.
Movements that initially seemed incomprehensible are gradually starting to make sense, which makes it more interesting. My family has told me that my posture has improved.
I find it fascinating to learn and embody the principles of Aikido. I’ve also made friends of similar age with diverse backgrounds, and our conversations over tea after training are especially enjoyable.
The techniques look so cool, and it’s rewarding when I can do them. The instructors always highlight what I did well, which gives me confidence. I enjoy just coming to the dojo.
Beyond learning techniques, I also want to develop body awareness and mental discipline. My motivation to stretch every morning has increased, and I feel more confident about aging.
The instructor always gives positive encouragement, so even when I struggle, I never feel discouraged and stay motivated. I find new discoveries in body mechanics, and I’ve started thinking about my body’s center in everyday movements.
Training allows me to work muscles I don’t normally use, without overdoing it. As I’ve continued, my posture has improved and I’ve noticed less fat around my waist.
I enjoy training and find joy in learning. It’s been practically useful in daily life too. The atmosphere of the class and the instructors is wonderful. Tea time after training is also something I look forward to.
Even when my child seems like he’s not paying attention, he’s actually watching with interest and remembering things in surprising detail. As a parent, I’ve learned a new side of my child. (Parent’s comment)
There’s always room for improvement, which keeps him motivated. Since starting training, he’s become able to speak up confidently in front of others! (Parent’s comment)
She really enjoys training and takes pride in her progress. Since starting Aikido, she’s gained confidence and become better at managing her emotions. (Parent’s comment)
He was born with weak eyesight, is small in stature, and was always reluctant about physical activities. The biggest change is that he said “I want to try” and “I want to continue” on his own, and he still eagerly attends. (Parent’s comment)
He’s developed the ability to keep working at things he can’t do yet until he gets them right. He says he can now stand up straight. (Parent’s comment)
He loves the instructor and looks forward to coming every time. He often gets down about things, but Aikido seems to be a great mood booster for him. (Parent’s comment)
She clearly loves Aikido, so we continue. She’s never once asked to quit, and I think it’s because the variety of techniques has made it more interesting. She mentioned that Aikido skills helped her avoid injury during a close call at school. (Parent’s comment)
